Lunch In Indian Country CLE: ICE Encounters & Tribal Considerations - Legal Framework & Practical Guidance

  • 25 Feb 2026
  • 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
  • State Bar of Arizona Webinar

This program provides an overview of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) encounters with a focus on the legal authorities governing ICE actions and the rights of individuals who may be impacted. Faculty will outline what typically occurs during ICE encounters, including questioning, arrests, and detention, and will discuss the constitutional, statutory, and regulatory frameworks that apply.

The program will also examine issues specific to Indian Country, including jurisdictional considerations, the role of Tribal governments and law enforcement, and how immigration enforcement may intersect with Tribal sovereignty and self-governance. Practical guidance will be offered for attorneys advising individuals, Tribes, or Tribal entities, including risk awareness, coordination considerations, and response planning.

Designed primarily for Indian Law practitioners, this CLE will also be relevant to attorneys practicing in employment, criminal defense, family law, civil rights, and public sector roles who may encounter ICE-related issues in their work.
