Lunch in Indian Country ETHICS CLE: Vicarious and Secondary Trauma: The Hidden Toll Lawyering Takes and How to Manage It

  • 19 Jun 2019
  • 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
  • Live in Tucson, AZ and available via Webcast

As lawyers, we regularly face highly charged, emotional, often combative situations, both with our clients and with the opposing side. Our clients rely on our counsel to help them navigate some of life’s most difficult decisions, and with this counsel, the buck stops with us.  This is a heavy load to carry.  Most of us wave these small traumas away as unimportant or easily manageable.  But vicarious and secondary trauma are very real and very powerful forces that can topple even the strongest person and skew even the soundest professional judgment.  This seminar will provide participants with the vocabulary to understand and identify trauma and its triggers and will end with practical tools to manage these types of trauma and seek resources where necessary.
