Course covers several topics regarding food sovereignty, including:

  • Understand the respective authorities of the USDA and the FDA in regulating and food.
  • Recognize the status of federal law with respect to State and Tribal Agriculture laws and varying jurisdictional issues as well as the need for each Tribe to adopt an Agriculture and Food Code.
  • Understand the Federal Budget Process as it relates to the Farm Bill, as well as current risks and opportunities for Tribes in the 2018 Farm Bill.
  • Identify the need and challenges in creating Food Safety Plans for Tribe and Individuals.
